FOCUS ON OUR LORD

Church in Greece.

The Good News for today are:

  “The battle is not yours, but God’s. … stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed.   2 Chronicles 20:15, 17.” 

“Do not be terrified. … The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you” (Deuteronomy 1:29-31). 

“All this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47). 

“If God is for us, who can be against us? … In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:31, 37). 

Just as Paul prayed for the Ephesians...  this prayer is applicable to us all today... Ephesians 3: 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  4Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, "Rejoice!"  

5Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.   

6 Fret not about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

When we have received the Favor of our Lord as He is Faithful and will grant us our request when we ask in faith, we are to pray with Thanksgiving and to use His provisions for the purpose and not turn away when we have been delivered, you are to continue to seek Him and give Him the Glory.

When you have had great deliverances out of troubles and turmoil, remember to say…, "I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." And supplied all I have needed because our Lord is Faithful… Praise Our Lord Jesus who sits on the Throne of Righteousness.  www.goodnewsforever.org


The Model Prayer

Background…. The Text is from Luke… Luke was a Gentile and a physician, and also a missionary that worked alongside Paul.  The time of Luke’s writing was between 60 to 80 years after the birth of Christ. Luke was a witness and lived during the Resurrection of Jesus who was crucified at age 33, therefore the events recorded by Luke are authentic and reliable and factual.

Luke 11

(New King James Version (NKJV)

11 Now it came to pass, as He (Jesus) was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

So He (Jesus) said to them, “When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”

Commentary:  Back in Sunday’s school I believe the version of our Lord’s Prayer,

Ended with:  For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and Glory…Forever, AMEN

A Friend Comes at Midnight

The following were said by Jesus…  This is told so that we may see what a ‘True’ friend is:

5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking:  “ASK”

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Note: Philippians 4: 6 (The Amplified New Testament)

Verse 6: Do not fret o have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition (a defined request) with thanksgiving continue to make your wants known to God.

Notice the key words are:

  • Do not fret
  • Every circumstance
  • By Prayer & Petition
  • With Thanksgiving
  • Continue your request to God

Give thanks to our Faithful Lord and Savior as He provides all our needs… as stated in: Philippians 4:19 New International Version (NIV)

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

The Beatitudes preached by Jesus and more well known as the Sermon on the Mount.  Before we read the text, we did a little checking as to the meaning of Beatitude... and the Webster's definitions are listed below.
Comment: Our Lord was probably saying... These should be your attitudes, these are the principles of living a life pleasing to our Lord...

Definition of BEATITUDE

1. a : a state of utmost bliss —used as a title for a primate especially of an Eastern church

Synonyms: happiness, blessedness, bliss, blissfulness,felicity, gladness, joy, warm fuzzies

Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount

Things to know that in the realms of reality, right now is what counts; not yesterday, nor tomorrow, for we know…“Jesus is the Great High Priest and HE is the Source of our SECURITY!”

Our Lord’s Grace and His Kindness and Graciousness are His gifts to those that serve and place Him first.

Live by the principle of… Spiritual maturity is developed by holding unto a FAITH that is FIRMLY ANCHORED IN CHRIST; and knowing that we are never on our own because Jesus is our High Priest.

Hebrews 4: 12 (NIV)

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Jesus is our Intercessor and our Mediator as our High Priest, that Intercedes to the Father, as HE Said...”No one comes to the Father unless Through HIM”

Psalms 95 Verse 7 (NIV).  For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

   Today, if only you would hear his voice, 8. Do not harden your hearts 

His encouragement to persevere and Stay focused in FAITH

Principle 2:

We become Mature in The Faith as we live out the Truth, and Learn about God…

MATURE FAITH = ACTION FOR CHRIST

Keynote: 

Jesus is the Foundation Who Secures the ANCHOR of OUR FAITH…

The GOSPEL IS THE WHOLE THING, And The Goodness of HIS Resurrection.

Keynote: Keep Focused on HIM!

Jesus is on the Throne, and He is our Anchor, and we can come to Him as HE said…

Pay Careful attention to the Gospel, so we will be fully Anchored in Jesus Christ…as HE Never Lies, HE is Supreme, HE is Sovereign and HE is our Eternal God…

Our Father holds the purse-strings, and what we lose for his sake he can repay a thousand-fold.

It is ours to obey his will, and we may rest assured that he will provide for us. The Lord will be no man's debtor.

Looking at His Words in Matthew 6: 28-34 (NIV) preface…These are the words of Jesus as told by Him from His sermon at a gathering which was in effect our Lord’s Inauguration speech as King Jesus, widely known as the Beatitudes and as ‘The Sermon on the Mount’ The theme of this message is: ‘To have Faith and not to Worry’

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Our Lord will work miracles in our lives, we have to only trust Him. He is faithful and He is the same yesterday, just as He made the Iron Ax Floated




Our Thoughts for today: Our God who is Faithful and Just and HE can work mighty things in our lives... as we read, He made the Iron Ax Float: 


2 Kings 6 NIV  An Axhead Floats 
 1 The company of the prophets said to Elisha, “Look, the place where we meet with you is too small for us. 

2 Let us go to the Jordan, where each of us can get a pole; and let us build a place there for us to meet.”    And he said, “Go.”  
3 Then one of them said, “Won’t you please come with your servants?”    “I will,” Elisha replied. 

4 And he went with them.    They went to the Jordan and began to cut down trees. 

5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axhead fell into the water. “Oh no, my lord!” he cried out. “It was borrowed!”  

6 The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float. 

7 “Lift it out,” he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it. 

We can count of our Lord knowing that what He did for Elisha 550 B.C., We too can look to our Lord that will make the IRON FLOAT for us in our lives when we need a miracle... The Miracle of Miracles is that we can have Eternal Life through His Redemption, as said in John 3:16 which brings us to:  

 Psalm 13:  New International Version (NIV) 
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,  I know that full well.  

15 My frame was not hidden from you  when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book     before one of them came to be.  

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them. 

18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you. What a Wonderful Creator that sent His Son Jesus to Redeem us... 

1 Timothy 1:12-17 New International Version (NIV) 
The Lord’s Grace to Paul  

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 

13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.  

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 

16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

1 Timothy 2  Instructions on Worship  

1. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - 

2. for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
 
3. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 

4: who wants all peopleto be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 

5: For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 

6: who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now beenwitnessed to at the proper time.  

7: And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle - I am telling the truth, I am not lying -and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.  

8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 

9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 

10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 

THE MERCY OF GOD: Let us draw near to God by HIS removal of the Veil that separated the Most Holy Place from the rest of the Tabernacle, by His Resurrection our Eternal God is no longer ‘Hidden’ from us since the veil of the temple has been torn down (Matthew 7:25) (Mark 15:38) 

The removal of the veil changed the old system of coming to our Lord God, as Jesus Paid It All by His Blood. 
We need to remember… By refusing to draw near to god is an insult to Christ and His completed work (His Crucifixion and His Resurrection) Therefore; ‘Let us hold unswervingly to the Hope we profess, for He who promised (Jesus) is Faithful. "I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee."  Isaiah 44:22 KJV “

HE Rose Triumphantly, and because HE conquered death... Romans 8:  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Transfiguration
LUKE 9 New International Version (NIV)

 28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. 31 They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

 34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” 36 When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at that time what they had seen.
